Pages and Files
What is AEP?
"Arts For All"
Sec 3 AEP students (2016)
The curriculum for the Art Elective Programme is broadly categorised into three fields of pursuit which parallel the main strands of the creative industry, namely:
The framework provides a neat platform for exposure to the basic requirements and experiences that practitioners in the fields undergo. However, the categories are not rigid boundaries, and the concepts and practices of the three fields do overlap to provide a holistic understanding and experience of the creative industries.
Within each field, students will undergo an integrated learning of
of the concepts, processes and values related to the field:
Year 1 and 2 students will be taught the foundations of art and design..
Year 3 and 4 students will be able to streamline their interest in their chosen field of interest.
Year 5 and 6 students will consolidate their knowledge as they gear towards preparation for their career path as well as taking their A-levels examination.
For assessment, we follow the guidelines for the O Level syllabus closely. Students are assessed based on their ability to:
1. Research and gather information that informs their work
2. Explore and experiment with materials
3. Apply aesthetic principles
3. Handle media with technical competency
5. Relate their artwork to their personal experiences
Formative Assessment Criteria
For Sec 1 to 4 students, there will be a series of formative assessment incorporated into the teaching and learning of art. These include quizzes, exhibition reviews, maintaining an art reflections blog, ideation sketches, visual journal entries, etc.
